Dr. Nora Saif is an Associate Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology at the Faculty of
Dentistry, Cairo University, where she completed her Master of Science (MSc) in Dental
Medicine, Diagnostic Science and Periodontology and her PhD degree in Oral &
Maxillofacial Radiology.
Over 20 years of her academic career in OMFR, she has designed and directed a number of
OMFR undergraduate and graduate programs and is currently heading the OMFR
department at Future University Egypt.
Dr. Saif’s main scope of published work and current research work is 3D dental image
processing and manipulation with a focus on AI applications in the field of OMF imaging.
Dr. Saif is member of the International Association of Dental & Maxillofacial Radiology
(IADMFR) Research Committee. She is also a member and active researcher at the ITU-WHO
Focus Group on AI for Health.
Driven by her passion to conduct research work and advance knowledge in the field of her
specialty, Dr. Saif founded the Egyptian Maxillofacial Radiology Alliance in 2022. She
lectures nationally and internationally.

Abstract
As the field of dentistry continues to evolve and embrace technology, the use of AI is
becoming an increasingly important tool for improving patient outcomes and enhancing
the delivery of dental care.
This lecture will highlight the latest advancements in AI technology and their potential
impact on the field of dentistry. By exploring the intersection of AI and dentistry, this
lecture aims to inform and educate dental professionals, while also inspiring new ideas and
innovations in the field.
Attention will be given to the role of AI as an adjunctive technology for the interpretation of 2D and 3D images. The discussion will center on “How good is AI?” and “How much does AI help?” An update on the current state of AI as applied to 2D and 3D imaging will be offered.
