Title

Novel CAD-CAM  applications  for treatment of complex cases: Taking bone  and soft tissue augmentation  procedures to the next level

Abstract

For almost 25 years, Oral and maxillofacial surgeons have adopted computer-guided surgical protocols to guide and assist the complex dentoalveolar repair and reconstruction to enhance the housing of dental implants. With the recent introduction of computer-aided surgery, the proposed surgical repair can be precisely virtually predicted in an environment that imitates the actual procedure,  before being transferred to the surgical field using different CAD/CAM and rapid prototyping techniques. Nowadays, three-dimensional surgical simulation and the increasing application of computer-aided design and manufacturing techniques represent a chance that carries a greater fidelity to simplify various challenging surgical procedures.

This presentation will showcase the technology of the future and will take us on a journey through some complicated dental implant cases starting from single implant placement to full arch bone and soft tissue augmentation procedures and demonstrates how digital CAD-CAM  applications  aided by the precise computer-guided protocols using either customized surgical guides and templates, frameworks fabricated from different biomaterials or patient-specific implants will simplify  complex maxillary and mandibular  bone augmentation techniques with lower intraoperative time and minimal donor site morbidity
