Title

The Beauty behind Computer-Guided Orthognathic Surgery

Abstract

The applications of Virtual Surgical Planning (VSP) have been used over the last decade to assist and guide complex surgical situations including orthognathic surgery, reconstructive surgery, traumatology, TMJ, dental Implants etc. Before the Era of computer guided surgery, oral & maxillofacial surgeons were depending on traditional surgical planning techniques that doesn’t allow precise prediction and visualization of the possible outcomes for complex surgical cases. Pre-surgical planning software’s allows the surgeon to generate an accurate three-dimensional virtual representation of the surgical problem, propose a surgical treatment plan that can be performed in a virtual environment prior to the actual procedure and transfer the predicted surgical plan to the operating room via 3D-printed surgical guides and/or patient specific devices.
